    • I backed up all of the files in the joomla folder and made a db backup before attempting an upgrade to 1.5.15

What went wrong with the upgrade?

    • I figured out what i did wrong with the upgrade portion at least.
I backed up the files and placed them on my local computer, backed up the db just for safe measure and then ftp'ed the upgrade package (unzipped) to the server. What i did wrong was (using transmit) i selected replace files rather than merge files, which deleted alot of the files such as includes and even templates. the other thing that happened when the upgrade failed due to my error was that i deleted the entire subfolder that i had joomla installed on and uploaded the back-up. I again failed to realize that when i copied the folder i didn't have hidden files selected (htaccess.) so i when i uploaded the back-up it didn't have the file.
I have since installed the upgrade which worked successfully but now just dealing with bugs.

everything worked last night but now the menus on every page but the index is in vertical text format. I seem to remember having this issue before possibly due to sef urls being enabled but can't remember how it was corrected.
      Anyone know off hand?

    • Basic Core SEF:

If joomla is in the root; htdocs, or public_html...

In Global Configurations, Search Engine Friendly URLs Yes, Use Apache mod_rewrite Yes, Add suffix to URLs No.

      Change htaccess.txt to .htaccess.

If it’s in a folder, you need to change the # RewriteBase / to reflect the path of your site.

      Change:

      # RewriteBase /

      to:

RewriteBase /(the name of the folder joomla is in)

If that doesn't work, search or post here:

      forum.joomla.org/viewforum.php?f=544

If you are using a 3rd part component, contact the developer.

Start a new thread, someone may know the answer, but your question is buried in this thread.

Also, try searching or posting on joomla.org, the errors you are receiving are not template related.
