I joined Rockettheme today excited to launch Rocket Launcher - to begin to work with the Hyperion template. I got through step 6. "Configuration" and when I click on "Install Sample Data" I get this message: The XML response that was returned from the server is invalid. I have found numerous attempted solutions online dating back some years. Has Rockettheme figured this out yet? Am I going to find bugs like this along the way from now on? I just want to start working on my website.
Does anyone know how to fix this? I am just learning Joomla and need some easy steps. Thanks.
If it's a server, there may be some permission issues involved.
Sometimes permissions get changed during the FTP process of the Rocket Launcher or stock Joomla install - this is not RT or RT theme related.
In any case, uploading the zipped RL and extracting on your server, as opposed to FTPing the contents from your desktop after extraction, usually fixes this.
Well it wasn't the permissions. We tried that. Now I am going to try the other option you mentioned.
When I download the Rocket Launcher from the website I end up with a folder on my desktop. How do I do this and retain a zipped RL? And when I do this, how do I then extract it on my server. The people at Go Daddy do not know how to do either.
Please tell me what I'm doing wrong. I have followed all the instructions. I get to the last step - where I am asked to remove the Installation folder - and after I do this, I get an error message again. Please explain in very plain language what I have to do to make this work.
I got it to this last step by downloading an additioanl file - configuration.php - which I found in another Joomla template for Hyperion. It is apparently the wrong one. Why do all the forum folks in Joomla say I need to have a configuration.php file if one is not part of the RocketLauncher download. The only one that comes with it is: configuration.php-dist.
Thanks JEM. I have renamed the configuration.php-dist to configuration.php. With the help of a GoDaddy technician, I am now filling in all the values. I'm hoping once I do this it will work. Right now (still working on the fields), I get the message:
"Database Error: Unable to connect to the database: Could not connect to MySQL"
I'm assuming this is because the configuration.php was not generated but is waiting for me to fill in all the stuff. I hope this works. I got confused because some forum advice suggested I should just get rid of this file for this to work.
Yea, also deleting or renaming configuration.php, setting up the proper permissions on all folders, and start the installation process all over again, that worked for me.
