Deleting or changing a Super Admin

I have a developer that I may have to dismiss as his work practices are difficult to work with. He has to be told exactly what to do. Unfortunately even when he does it if what he has done is broken he will not fix it until I tell him to do it. It is like he won't even check his own work. Also if something does not work with my template Solar Sentinel he does not tell me it does not work with it. He just leaves it broken. Of course I had to pay him up front to get him started on the site.
Well I have debated dropping him and was concerned as he has Super Admin rights. I have had trouble deleting Super Admin and wanted to know if I have to what do I do to get rid of his login credentials if I have to. Do I simply lower his Super Admin to Admin and that will do it?
Also if anyone knows of any reasonably priced professional Joomla Developers out there. I am open to listening. I did request that once and got some guy out of Venezuela that was jet setting all over the country and simply farmed out the work to India for peanuts. His rates were premium though. He always gave a flat estimate. I got a bad vibe from him plus I hate Hugo Chavez anyway he is a communist in training. Please advise if anyone knows what I could do in this situation. Create a new Super Admin and delete the old one.
Change the name of the Super Admin from 'admin' to something else.
Change the Super Admin password.
