I have looked all over the .css trying to reduce padding below the nav bar. (Between nav bar and first article module) but no good. Can you help please?

Edit your light3.css at:
<Joomla Root>/templates/<your template name>/css/light3.css
Find below codes:#mainmods, #mainmods2, #mainmods3 {overflow:hidden;padding-top:15px;}
You can change the padding-top value there

Thank you... It seems something is holding the padding there, it can't be reduced below a certain level. I mean there is no difference between 15px and 0px. I guess there's is another position's padding involving...

First, please remove the "41" from that line:
41#mainmods, #mainmods2, #mainmods3 {overflow:hidden;padding-top:0px;}
Then, at the end of the lines of your light3.css, add below code:.foreground .component-pad {padding-bottom: 0;}
