Grunge image issue in showcase

  • Grunge image issue in showcase

    • I have carefully read through the setup and have used the Rokstories module (as I am a club member)

I am getting a funny image size (I think the native size) on refresh of the page that disappears if I just move internally within the page. (In other words, it shows up sometimes and other times the images fit right within the showcase)

Please advise how to make the pictures size correctly routinely.

      Thanks ahead of time.

    • It seems to be a Chrome issue only as I don't see the issue in Firefox or IE.

Perhaps it is an issue with RokStories in Chrome.

    • hmmm could you please try to disable the "Smart loading-feature" of Gantry in the templatesettings and see if it helps?

    • Henning,

This did not do it. I just tried this per your suggestion.

    • Hey Spletcher,

I can see this in Safari too.

I had no time your to really take a deep look into Rokstories yet. (I'm a Mod for just some hours now 8) )
But from what I know the pictures work best if they all have the same size (in this case 330x220px)

You picture is just too small. I would suggest to use a dummy picture with the correct size.

      Hope this helps :-)

    • you are right about the picture size but it is something more than this as IE and FF do not do this. Even the picture size of 330 x 220 gives a fault in Chrome as you can see this moved to the left.

Rokstories is supposed to upsize any picture more or less.

I think that it is a basic Rokstories issue with Chrome but I don't know - likely a css issue

Sorry but RS does not work this way. I just talked to Kat. You have to upload the pictures in the right size to avoid scaling issues like that.

In general: Scaling pictures via CSS is a really bad way to display them ... always keep them at 100%.

    • I can confirm that this is an issue with both Chrome and Safari. My images are same size as those in the RL demo. Once it cycles through my three images, then the succeeding cycles display ok.

This issue does not occur with IE or FF.

BTW - updading to Joomla 1.5.21 and the latest Gantry did not solve the issue.

    • William,

did you try to disable the Smart-Loading-Feature?

    • Being the naturally lazy type, when I saw that it didn't work for spletcher, I didn't try it. But I've tried it now and absolutely no change whatsoever. It still looks awful as it cycles through the first time, then auto-corrects itself on the subsequent passes.

Obviously, this template isn't going to work for my site if I can't get this fixed.

BTW - I did clear the cache, reload the browser, etc. plus - I left the smart-load turned off.
