Top green section in GRUNGE template

How do i make the top green section of the GRUNGE template transparent or a different color I was able to edit the image but the green section at the top stays on top of image. I would prefer to make it transparent if possible. It is where the date is located now, i thought removing date would remove it but it did not

Ok i got it back online if you can take a look at the green section at top and how i can remove it. I know it prob in the CSS but not sure where to start.

I Just found where to change it in the CSS as you looked at it but now how do i make it transparent, the class now is #rt-top {background:#507E83;}. I want to make the image template.png show through but even removing the class #rt-top {background:#507E83;} it still shows a black background. below is the complete top CSS section.

I know how the template.png image shows at top and bottom, but i just want to black section removed between it and just show the top of template.png... I see that in the style1.css but when i remove it, the top turns to white and does not show the complete template.png. The original template.png was one sold greencolor at the top, i have now changed it to what i want but i want the black section removed to just show the image behind it.
here is the image i redid it had points on it i wanted it with paper edge
