Previewing template before going live with it

    • Hi Guys,

There may be a simple answer for this, but I haven't come across it yet. Am fairly conversant with Joomla, but not a coder or template developer. However, I've got quite a bit of experience working with PHP/SMARTY, and was wondering...

Is there a way to preview a template in Joomla before making it live (default)?

I'm working on an existing Joomla site that desperately needs reskinning, but I don't want to give the game away by swapping out the template while I'm still workign on it.

In SMARTY, I'd just use a URL varialbe (?template=).

Is there something similar in Joomla?

      Thanks all!

    • i use a program called XAMPP which allows you to design in your localhost and so you do not have to keep uploading to your serv.

here is where you can find out about XAMPP
