I am using this template for an upcoming newsroom site we're building. However, The main text color on the template is a kind of light grey color. How can I change this to being simply black? I don't see this referenced in the CSS anywhere.

Maybe something like this could work though:
body {
color: #333333;
}
It's what i am using on my own site. - Please reply with a direct link to the issue & create a new thread for each new issue.

As you can see, I am setting the <p> tags with a style setting of black, which is tedious but getting the job done. But I will give your post above a try and see if that works.

- where is the css file are you editing? i am havingno success at changing the font color of this site. This should be very easy and is on most templates. what do i have to do to change the font color, mainly where do i go in the css files/wheres the locaiotn of the right file. thanks!

It's not a matter of changing an existing file.
Create a file rt_afterburner2-custom.css in the css folder of template
and add
html body,
html body p
{color: black;} -

Using Lexicon ... and the following worked great for body text default color ... what can I add to custom-css to make the default link color Red? or any other color?
It's not a matter of changing an existing file.
Create a file rt_lexican-custom.css in the css folder of template
and add

{color: black;}
