Rocksprocket Mosaic: Default article image

I'm trying to set a Rocksprocket Mosaic module to show the image that is shown first in the editor part of the window, so not an image added using the "images and links" functionality. I have tried this in earlier projects as well, and never managed to achieve this, I was always force to use "images and links". For a new project I really need this, as the existing articles are set up like this.
In my opinion, setting the Default Image to "Default article Image" should achieve this behaviour, but is just doesn't pick it up....

Thanks, ok I've done some testing and I see what you mean so I've raised a bug ticket for our DEVS to comment on - it may be that "our" understanding of how it should work is incorrect - but let's see what they say...

Ok - so i've just been informed that "default article image" actually is interpreted as "none". Roksprocket does not attempt to extract embedded images from the article description - nor does it attempt to use the images from "image & links" in this circumstance. It really does mean "none".
I am just awaiting final confirmation from our lead developer now - but that is where we are at present.

Hi Mark, I've noticed in several installations that this is indeed how it works, but forgive me for saying that that does not make sense if there already is a setting to set the image source to None. The offered setting for Default article image is then useless.
Untill now I have always managed to get away by using intro-images or full article images, as I was administrating these sites myself, but now I am working on a project for a client that has a workflow where multiple users are used to inserting the images in the editor.
I would say that this is a bug that needs fixing, or otherwise the setting should simply be removed to stop confusion.
Apart from this I really love the module by the way, so no offence

No offence taken at all. I must admit I find it a little confusing too, but, I don't have all the reasoning behind this yet so I'm keeping an open mind. I think perhaps it's a little early to be calling it a "bug" until we know more (yes I know I did raise a "bug" ticket but that's just what our tracker calls it).
