    SOLVED Delay in template changes

Posted 8 years 11 months ago
    • Hi... I have just taken over the maintenance of a client's site and for some reason any design/template changes are not instant. They tend to take 12-24 hours to appear.
      Content changes are immediate.
      Can anyone please assist?

    • So that means something is being cached then?

      1. are you clearing server cache after making changes?
      2. Are you clearing browser cache after making changes?
      3. Are you using a CDN? are you clearing it's cache after making changes?
      4. Does your server have any special caching on it? Ask you hosting company.

I also note that is a Praxis template and you don't have a current subscription for Praxis? Support does require a current subscription.

      Regards, Mark.

    • Hi Mark
As I mentioned I have just taken over the maintenance of the site as the previous company closed their doors. So I am new to Praxis but I do have a few other sites with Rocket Theme.
Would I need subscription for the query and if so how much would it cost?
      To answer your questions:
I cleared the template manager cache
I cleared expired cache under systems
I cleared System/clear cache by checking the boxes and deleting

This has done something because the coloring has changed a really horrible color scheme

Browser - I did ctrl F5 to refresh

I contacted the hosting company and they don't use caching

      Still it doesn't update immediately

I would really appreciate some assistance as the colours are now hideous - eek

      Thanks, Lisa

    • For just Praxis you can purchase a lifetime support subscription for $49USD but I think there's a promotion on at the moment that reduces that by $15USD.

I need to look at your site admin to be able to assist further.

Please would you post your URL, superuser id and pswd in the secure tab of your post and i'll have a look for you.

      Regards, Mark.

    • So...

I went to template manager and could see colors were different. Nevertheless, I saved the template and pressed the "clear cache" button too. Then I went to system > clear cache - ticked all items and press "delete". Then I went to frontend and cleared cache in my browser and refreshed the page. The correct colors then showed straight away?

btw - your praxis template is way out of date on v1.1 (current version is v1.8 ) so there's another reason to buy a subscription/

Gantry is way out of date on 4.1.18 too and should be updated to 4.1.31 ASAP too.

Make sure that all RT products are up-to-date (backup before updating anything), clear server and browser cache after you have updated.

      Regards, Mark.

    • Thanks Mark for all your help. I will sort out subscription.

Working on other templates I haven't had to clear cache... would I need to do this with every little change on praxis template or do you think this will come right once I have the latest version of Praxis and Gantry?

    • It's normal to have to clear cache like I described. I don't think the updates will have any bearing on that.
