    • Hello again,

      Before I start translating this theme myself - just a quick question. Has anyone already translated Afterburner into French?

      If you have - please let me know if you're willing to share. It would be appreciated.

      Regards,

      Alessandro

    • Just go here and get the French files for the front and back end:

      joomlacode.org/gf/project/jtranslation/frs

      Install them as you would any other extension and set French as the default language.

      Extensions > Language Manager > Site / Administrator

    • Sorry, thought this was for Joomla, but WP should have similar files....
    • Thanks,

    • Thanks Jem,

      I'll do a manual translation using Poedit and post here once it's done.

    • Hello again,

      I've completed the translation - but I receive 3 fatal errors when saving the file, and I do not know why (the details give no information). Has anyone encountered this?

      I'm using POedit on a Mac.

      Regards,

      AB

    • Hello,

      Ok after giving it a break for a day - I tried again.

      I found what was causing the 3 fatal errors - tip: don't mess with the % in character strings.

      That fixed I tried following the RT tutorial for translating - still didn't work.

      Then I tried the language switcher instructions from: www.studiograsshopper.ch/web-development...ationalising-themes/ (It's a 5 part series) which goes into a little more depth than the RT-Tutorial.

      And although the Language-Switcher plug-in works fine (my written text translates) the theme remains English.

      However I noticed that in the Afterburner Functions.php file - there this bit of code:
      rockettheme_translation();

      Followed further down by:
      function rockettheme_translation() {
          load_theme_textdomain('afterburner_lang');
      }
      function _r($str)
      {
        return __($str, 'afterburner_lang');
      }
      function _re($str)
      {
        _e($str, 'afterburner_lang');
      }

      I haven't coded anything since 1999 - but shouldn't one of these be referencing the fr_FR.po file?

      Please advise.

    • Hi Alessandro,

      No, this part of code is fine. The language files are referenced to the language settings stored in the wp-config.php. Please open wp-config.php from your wordpress directory and check what's the language stored in the line :
      define ('WPLANG', '');

    • Hello Jakub,

      That's the first thing I checked.

      It cleary shows:
      define ('WPLANG',  'fr_FR');

      The fr_FR files are in the Afterburner template folder as requested by the instructions from RT.

      Hence my confusion.

      I'll be tackling the issue again from scratch this week - maybe I missed something. I'll report back.

      Regards,

      AB
