Relative Positioning of Different Backgrounds

I have a site that is using Joomla 1.6 and the Paradox template, latest versions of Joomla and gantry.
I have been asked by my client to put a border outside of the template with the name of the relevant main menu position shown vertically. I found this thread http://www.rockettheme.com/forum/index.php?f=394&t=132033&p=656362&hilit=different%20backgrounds&rb_v=viewtopic#p656362 and followed Dan's excellent tutorial with great success.

The problem I have with it is the background is screen relative so the vertical names appear in different places depending upon the screen type being used by the browser. I need to get a bit more control over the positioning, possibly by making the backgrounds template relevant.
Any help with this would be most appreciated. - 18 hour days and intravienous coffee - wired or what!!

not sure if this really helps you but when you change the rule for
.menu-the-cortijo div#rt-page-background2
like this
.menu-the-cortijo div#rt-page-background2 {
background: transparent url("../images/style3/background/bg-texture-the-cortijo.jpg") no-repeat scroll -50px 0;
width: 1200px;
margin-right: auto;
margin-left: auto;
}
it should give you an idea ...

Sorry I didn't get back to you earlier, work got in the way of work, if you see what I mean.
That seemed to do it, but I am going to have to look at it on several other computers before I will be sure.
