customize template page displays oddly in joomla 1.6

Finally, I did it. It was one little # that had to be deleted in the htaccess file, which activates a line that allows 'the template to have direct access to php files in its directory'. So all this work, just for one little #.

Hey Cliff,
The file changed back somehow and the problem appeared again. I'm supposed to change it for another .htaccess file which 'I can easily get from joomla.org'. Where can I get this file? I have no idea but these very helpful people in rochen wont tell me because it will be advertising...
I'm so tired of this

- Hi, sorry for your troubles. You should just be able to unzip a fresh install of Joomla, take the htaccess.txt that is inside, upload it to your server and rename it to .htaccess - that's what they are referring to. Let me know if that helps.

Thank you. All the while I'm thinking this is a separate download since they only say I can get 'a stock htaccess file'. I'm not going to ask questions in my host's forum again
