Add search to nab bar?

I am trying to add the search module to a nav bar in Gantry. The nav bar has enough room at the far right to include it, but when I specify the search module position in the Navigation position, it gets dropped down below the nav.
I tried adding a "clear:none" to it, but it did not help. Then I tried to add it to the breadrcumbs position but it still sat below the breadcrumbs area.
Wondered if there was a way to do this?
