System Message Probelm

    • Due to the introduction of the new EU cookie law, I've been looking at solutions to implement on our range of sites.

After a number of different options attempted, I settled on EU e-Privacy Directive http://extensions.joomla.org/extensions/site-management/cookie-control/21043?qh=YToxOntpOjA7czo4OiJlcHJpdmFjeSI7fQ%3D%3D

I made some modifications to the display and to test I installed a fresh copy of joomla, 2.5.5 (11.4) and the latest gantry bundle 3.2.19. Using the default joomla template, the plugin shows as expected, using gantry, with the 'System Messages' setting ON in the admin control panel, it simply does not display. This has also been the case with an unmodified version.

I had a little joy copying the systemmessages.php file from the gantry library into the template, but generally I've had no luck. I even tried to set the message in the systemmessage.php file.

Has anyone come across this issue or similar before?

As a side, note, the Description does not translate upon first insalling, when overwriting the existing plugin (ie it is already installed). Not overly bothered about this, but the lack of the system message displaying is really starting to test my patience.

      Thanks,

      Dale McConnell

    • Hi there,

As Joomla 2.5.5 was only just released and people are complaining of broken sites already I would steer clear of trying 3rd party extensions on J2.5.5 until they sort the problems out.

      Hope this helps 8)

    • Still having the problem with 2.5.6 and gantry 3.2.20: Using the default joomla template, the plugin's enqueued message shows as expected, using gantry, with the 'System Messages' setting ON in the admin control panel, it simply does not display.

    • Hi David,

Currently all my test installs are on our local dev server, I shall put something up publically later today if I still have no joy.

      Thanks,

    • Hi David, or anyone else paying attention....

      bnlhosting.co.uk/ganttest/

You can see the working message, displayed above the content in the default template. Then try the top menu item 'Gantry Test' - system messages are set to feature-a in the gantry CP.

I can provide admin access by PM if required.

      Thanks,

    • Just for reference, same issue with Joomla 2.5.1 and Gantry 3.2.16.

    • Hi there,

Can you PM me with a temporary Super Admin access please and I will take a look to see what the cause may be.

      Thanks :)

    • Further detail:

The message appears as expected when another is queued via another component. For example, a component sending a mail enqueues a message to say 'Your message has been sent.'. This, oddly, leads to the initial message from the plugin also being displayed after the mail message.

Is gantry checking for a message count higher than 1 at some point?

      Thanks,

      Dale

    • I have the same problem using RT-templates with this plugin, with other brands of templates the plugin work as expected.

The plugin has three different view options, Message, Notice or Warning. None of them displays.

How ever the plugin DO stop cookies from loading but the user is unable to accept cookies and can't load them if wanted.
