I have a site running 2.5.8 and the latest modulus template.
The gantry interface to the template is broken and i cant seem to fix it, despite reinstalling gantry and the template.
The front end of the site is fully functional, the backend has the indicators added by gantry of master template. But when i click the template which should bring up the gantry setting, it just sits spinning and eventually i get a 404 (looks like after a timeout).
I really need to be able to edit the settings.
Any help is appreciated - i already tried disabling all non core system plugins thinking someconflict might have come up, but it didnt help. There does not appear to be any JS errors seen browser side.

Did you try to check server error log to see if you will find some hints there? Also, try to set error reporting in Joomla global config to the maximum. That may give you some more error messages which could explain the issue

in the joomla log there does not apear to be anything logged other than authentication failures (which i expect)
Unfortunately there appears to be one other thing broken i just notice, which makes turning on reporting slightly more difficult to a joomla novice like myself. The global config isn't loading its template (only page doing that in th standard admin)
I can generally live with the global config not working, but the template i need to. Something tells me they are related though since both seem to have randomly broken recently.
If you could point me to the database settings or global config lines you want changed to get the best reporting, i can manually go into the database with myadmin and change them (or the file). Would you be so knd as to tell me how to back door the error reporting settings?
I also may need to enable php error reporting, if you know the ini line i should add i can do that two.

I managed to clean up all the backend errors reported, but still cant get gantry working. I am currently upgraded to 3.2.20 of the framework, which fixed the previous notice.
However, the only thing anywhere that seems to be logged before i get a 404 is
2012-12-27T01:06:47+00:00 INFO controller Checking edit ID com_templates.edit.style.2: 1 Array ( [0] => 6 [1] => 3 [2] => 2 )
2012-12-27T01:06:55+00:00 INFO controller Holding edit ID com_gantry.edit.template.12 Array ( [0] => 12 [1] => 13 )
I have no idea what this means, but it looks like the jcontroller is getting hung up on something with gantry.

I upgraded to gantry 4.14 last light, which removed the gantry PHP error. However, now i get no error and the page seems to go 404.
I really need to be able to edit the style as i need to adjust some positions. This is real problem for me. I have spent hours trying to get this working and it just wont.
Perhaps this is a specific rt modulus thing, i don't know. The only gantry templates are Modulus. Non gantry templates can get into style configurations no issue.
If an RT member can help I would really appreciate - this is non-profit site i support for free. the organization is currently rebuilding from the hurrican and we need certain adjustments for site to work and to keep the community informed
