Hi there,
OK - First of all we are a template club. We sell subscriptions to use our templates.
We recognise that people will want to adjust the templates and in most cases that is not a problem. For many it is a question of changing colours, chaning logo and using their own content.
The trick is starting with the template that has the closest functionality to what you require. The base Gantry template is just that, a basic template that will allow developers to do what they need.
If you need a full-width banner then you should choose one of the templates where we already have full-width positions, this is why we have the demo site with all the templates in place.
Where people get stuck on small changes we do assist where practical. The amount of customisation you require goes beyond our normal levels of support. You could always use the Marketplace board to see if any other developers would take on this work.
