    Creating own theme for Gantry

Posted 12 years 3 months ago
    • Just a question that I've got a feeling will be easily answered.

I'm playing with Gantry for on Joomla 3 and when I first started playing with Gantry a long time ago, to make sure you didn't lose any of your changes when a new Gantry version came out, you basically created your own template so when the update happened nothing happened to what you had changed.

I suspect now though that that isn't necessary .. mostly because you can create your own CSS file that overrides when playing with some of the club templates, but that is the core of my question.

If I want to create my own look and feel based on Gantry 4 and Joomla 3 do I just have to have a seperate CSS file?

    • You should always place your custom css code in custom css file

This is how you create a custom CSS file...
      www.gantry-framework.org/documentation/j...-a-custom-stylesheet

When we release upgrades template files will change and you will have to reapply all your changes again (that's if you can remember where they all are). If you keep your changes in a separate Custom CSS file you'll have no issues upgrading.
