flush your dns maybe... it just means your local ISP's DNS server doesn't know the IP address for that url... alternatively you can change your local connection to use a differnt DNS server... 8.8.4.4 seems to be working

Because it has nothing to do with Gantry, Joomla, Rocket Theme or anything else other than your DNS server...
on windows? run > cmd > type: ping updates.rockettheme.com
hit Enter

I'm sorry... I wasn't thinking it through clearly... it's whatever DNS server your webhost uses to resolve that matters, not your local DNS server...
If you have shell access to your webhosting run the same ping command via shell and see if it resolves...\

- You could be totally correct that it is my webhost, but I can't see that it worked in the morning, but didn't work in the afternoon. So my webhost changed something during the day?
