SOLVED Manually install Gantry onjoomla3.4.1?

  • SOLVED Manually install Gantry onjoomla3.4.1?

Posted 10 years 1 month ago
    • I am using joomla 3.4.1 to creat a fresh site and have been unable to get the install under extension manager to work for me. I am using mamp on my local computer to set up the site. I had to manually install my template SYNDICATE and now can't work with it until Gantry is installed. I have placed files in the back end under administration/plugins/ and components, as well as the complete gantry folder in Library, but cannot get it to work for me. When I try to go into the template to make changes to it, I get an error screen. I may have missed manually placing files or folders, is there any structure out there that will tell me how to manually install Gantry in this situation? Thanks very much.

    • There is no easy way to manually install it as far as i know.

Is everything up-to-date and fills all the requirements and did you try to install the bundle?

    • Yes, I did try that download. Strangely, when I downloaded that zip file to one computer, an older mac pro, it downloaded as a folder, but not a zip file. I didn't notice it wasn't a zip file, so of course when I tried to use the installer, it wouldn't recognize it. So I downloaded it on my desktop computer, an imac, and it downloaded as a zip file, so was able to install it right away. So bottom line, it is now working. I'll have to pay attention in the future that the file actually downloads as a .zip when I want to install. What an odd thing to experience, so problem solved. Thanks for listening.

    • That's very odd, but maybe you had an old browser that did not understood the mime-type sent from the server. Try installing the latest Chrome on your old Mac Pro to see if you can replicate the problem.

Anyway, glad you got it working on your iMac at least :)
