SICK and tired of Overrides not working

I have updated Wordpress to the latest version and I have upgraded to the most current Gantry Framework and I still cannot create new overrides.
YES I have tried deleting the override and recreating. This still does not work.
I create a new override, set up what I want overridden and hit save, it thinks, loads and simply deverts right back to having no changes at all.
I made this site for a client and they are very frustrated, as am I. I purchased this product and expect it to work. I have been looking into this issue for months and no one on the forums seems to ever get a straight answer.
After updating and still seeing no change I am furious.
