Mainbody Layout Not Saving (sidebar widget selected)
Posted 12 years 2 weeks ago
My site default is mainbody no sidebar.
I want the blog to have a sigle sidebar right.
I create a new override, name it, choose the assignment (All Posts) and save, this works
I go to widgets, check sidebar, add a text widget (still editing the override)
back to gantry settings for the override and set mainbody to 2 (9|3)
when I save settings the mainbody will not save, it reverts back to 1 but the wdget is still checked.
I have tried this in chrome and ie, I have tried on more than 1 gantry install.
I am using the latest version of the framework and latest version of the plugin.
can't figure this out, followed documentation, looked at FAQ's
What am I doing wrong?

I just tried it again on 2 installs.
On the assignments tab I have "Posts" (so that the override applies to all posts) assigned and saved (I have 1 test post)
On the widgets page I have sidebar checked (on the default settings I have no content in sidebar and 1 column mainbody). In the sidebar I have a text widget with the word test as it's content and the gantry categories widget.
I go back to gantry settings and set mainbody to 2 columns (9|3) with sidebar sa to right, save settings and mainbody goes back to unchecked, 1 col.

Hi I took a look. Not sure why it's doing that. I set up a menu item with the test post you had and even though the settings in the backend reset, they are applied to the post pages. I tried moving the slider around and all of that still works, it's just the display in the admin area that is resetting.
Let me look into this more and see if it's a bug, never seen this particular issue before. There aren't any errors coming up that indicate a problem, I tried disabling all your plugins and tinkering with other usual suspects and it didn't change anything. At least it works on the front end, if you can work around that for the time being, I'll see if I can find an explanation.

I am having a similar issue with Radiance theme for wordpress, where changes to Mainbody position will not save any variations other than one main body with no sidebars. I have checked the updates and also notice Radiance just issued one as of Nov. 13 but this issue remains for me. Is the bug still being worked out or is it something on my end?

Hi, Yes, sidebar widgets are in place. I am using another rockettheme on this site, Nexus and have many active widgets. I decided to look at Nexus Settings and oddly enough, when I click on Settings, the page loads with the header menu but is completely blank otherwise. There are no options to see or choose from when Settings page is loaded. When I activate Radiance, the one body content area with no sidebars appears on both ends, it simply forces all my widgets to appear below main content body in one long page. The live preview feature has never worked with rocketthemes, so the only way to view this is to activate the theme. Luckily, once I reactivate Nexus, all widgets go back to my original placement.
I am using the most recent versions of both themes (Nexus and Radiance), all plugins are updated (Roc- box, tabs and search, Gantry template) and the most updated version of Wordpress.
Nexus continues to work as I had it set originally but at present I would not be able to change layout or style or any other preferences because those options are not visible.
For the record, I am using Akiraka theme on another Wordpress website and I can access and change it's settings just fine.
Thanks for any help.

Hi, Nexus and Akiraka are not Gantry based themes, so you may need to recreate the widgets in the Radiance theme after you activate it. Widgets usually do not transfer from one theme to the next in WordPress - as all of the widget data is stored in the database tables for each theme. When you switch themes, WordPress decides what happens to their placement and it usually does not do what you want.
Activate the Radiance theme and look at the widgets. From the sounds of it, the widgets are not being put in the sidebar widget position and are displaying elsewhere. You'll either need to move them or re-make them. Our themes run best when only one is installed, and they are not really designed to be plug and play and be switched between freely. Mainly because WordPress does not offer much core support for transferring settings between different themes.
