sidebar override issue in posts and archives

  • sidebar override issue in posts and archives

    • Hi There

I'm building a website for a client and I had the stupid idea of building it on top of Gantry...The framework seems pretty powerful and flexible, but it has some serious issues, I'm afraid. I'm using the basic free theme and I bought a subscription just to be able to access this board hoping to find help from someone.

So, I created a custom post type (Tours) with a custom Taxonomy (Categorie Tours, Tour Categories in Italian). On single tour pages (all tour pages have assigned this override) I created an override with a sidebar , to display some tour information in a widget. Everything works just perfect till now.

The problem arises on 'Tour Categories' archive pages (where I list, let's say, guided tours in Rome) I setup another override and assign it to all Tour Categories archives (But I tried also with all taxonomy terms for tours categories or all Tour Categories pages linked from the navigation menu) but I alway get the sidebar for the single tour page. Looks like wordpress 'sees' the archive page like a single page and actually the sidebar widget (even in the archive page) displays information related to the first listed tour in the archive.

for the custom taxonomy archive I created a taxonomy-categorie-tours.php file, but I get the same problem regardless its presence or not.

What Can I do? Help Please!!!

    • Hi,
in the Assignments tab of the overrides settings page, you have different options to choose the contexts the override should apply. If you select a taxonomy from the "Tour Categories: Terms" box the override applies when the posts being displayed are assigned to that category, as opposed to choosing a term from "Archives: Tour Categories" box which means the override will apply on that taxonomy's archive page. Please check the assignments for your overrides and make sure they are assigned properly.
    • Please don't PM unless requested ;)
Consider using the custom stylesheet for all your CSS customizations: gantry-framework.org/documentation/wordp...custom_stylesheet.md .
Please provide the URL to the issue.
And please mark the thread as solved if the issue is resolved.

    • Hi again Shazdeh....

I really cannot manage to apply my sidebars appropriately. I tried any possible setting. If I set the assignment to a taxonomy term, the single tour sidebar gets overridden. the taxonomy sidebar never displays. I tride to apply the override to the taxonomy template, to the archive, to the menu.....nothing. I don't know what to do....

    • Pheeeeeeeeeeewwww!!

I managed! I applied my sidebar override for my single tour page to all my desired custom taxonomy terms. While I applied my custom category sidebar to the taxonomy archive page.

Good Lord....I finally finished this site....
