  • WP - Widget overrides do not save

    • Hello,

      I am using Gantry v4.1.1 with the default Gantry Theme v4.1.1 on Wordpress 3.8.1. The problem I am having is changes to the widgets in a template override are not saved.

      Here are the steps I'm taking to create an override.

      1) create override in the Gantry Theme Settings page.

      2) assign some pages to that override

      3) view the widgets for that override. At this point wp shows no widgets assigned anywhere.

      4) add a widget. In this case I'm adding a text widget to the showcase position but I have tried several possibilities.

      5) click save.

      Now viewing an associated page in the front end still shows the default layout, and if I revisit the widgets page for the override all the positions are again empty.

      Any help tracking down the problem would be greatly appreciated.

    • Hi,

      This could be caused by wrong file permissions inside your Gantry folder. Also, sometimes due to slow hosting you might have to wait a little more after saving your Widgets and leaving the Widgets page.

      To receive further support i believe that you will have to update your membership :)

    • I am seeing this same problem. I do not believe it a due to a slow host or file permissions. I am trying to set up a contact override for the contact page. I create the text widget in the feature position but it is not saved. www.captureitwebdesign.com/semcil

      What could be going on?

    • Hi,

      This has been caused in other members too but in most of the cases it was caused by incompatibility with a 3rd party plugin.
      Could you try de-activating all your plugins other than the Rockettheme ones? If the problem remains after that please let us know.

    • Actually it appears to work intermittently. I now have been able to add and save widgets to both the homepage override and the contact override but not always.

      I actually do not have any non-rockettheme plugins active so I do not believe it is related to that.

    • In some servers, because of the slow response, you will have to wait a couple of seconds even after the "Successfully saved" response from the server before moving to another page.
