Can you overlap overrides?

Basically, i have a large site on the gantry framework, with lots of pages having different widgets in the sidebar. But there are two widgets that are valid across the entire site. So my question: Is there a way to set a set of widgets to show up on all overrides?? I've tried the Default setting, and just assigning two overrides to a page, but nothing is working yet.
Is this possible?? It would just make creating any new overrides easier if all we have to add are the individual elements.
