  • More than template on a site.

    • Hello,

      I have installed gantry framework along with RT Zephyr template.

      I would like to asked two things.

      1) If i want to have a second template from RT templates for instance somaxiom (that uses gantry) is there a problem to use to different templates since i have not installed gantry as stand alone? if so how to solve this issue.

      2)If i decide to use my second template from a different template provider that does not support gantry is there any issue with that? would i will be able to work with two different templates on the same site?

    • 1) If Gantry is already installed, you can install the standalone version of another Gantry template.

      2) You can install as many other (Gantry or non-Gantry) templates as you like and assign different templates to different menus without conflicts.

    • Here is a "what if".

      What if I have a non Gantry template (Solar Sentinal) and I want to use Somaxiom which uses Gantry? Is there a way to do this easily? Or do I have to create a migration script?

    • Install the template bundle, it has includes the Gantry framework.

      What we usually suggest is to make a back up of your site, and then install it in a sub folder of your site or on local host.

      Doing so, you can experiment with the new template without affecting your live site.

      If you decide to make the switch to a particular template, you should work on it an a dev site (in a sub folder of your site or on localhost) and when you are satisfied with the results, move the site to your root and make it live.

    • Sounds good. I already know and use Akeeba (its great) and XAMPP on my PC so I'm familiar with that setup. One thing I'm not sure of is how to install gantry.

      There are 4 Directories in the bundle and I know that "rt_somaxiom_j15" goes in the template directory,

      com_gantry
      installer
      a_manifest.xml

    • Install the template bundle as you would any other extension.

      Extensions > Install / Uninstall > browse to the bundle > Upload File & Install
