mobile navigation not displaying correctly

Hi there!
unfortunately searching the board was not successful, so I hope I can get some help.
I am using Zephyr on a 1.5.14 with updated gantry. Everything works fine up to the mobile navigation. I have played around with the settings using grunge and it works perfectly on another site.
With Zephyr and the fusion/mega menue I a not able to browse the menue structure.
All options are like on the other site where the grunge template runs.
I can see that it loads different pages ( #idown-5 etc. ) but the child items do not appear. Is it the fusion menue or am I just missing something important?
