Problems with Gantry in new install - SOLVED

Greetings,
Running Joomla 1.7, php 5.3.5 and the most recent downloads for Maelstrom template and Gantry. Check all configurations I could id in the forum and they seem in order. This attached image is my problem, when I select the template, the gantry page just displays text, no functionality.
Nothing to report from firebug. Does the same in Firefox or Chrome, both are the latest releases.
The only other thing I found was a error displayed at the top of system page:
Warning: php_uname() has been disabled for security reasons in /mnt/data/vhosts/humanscaleworld.cloudaccess.net/httpdocs/administrator/components/com_admin/models/sysinfo.php on line 115
I noticed that the configuration.php is set to unwritable. Could this be the problem?

hi there,
the issue that you end up in the module preview when clicking on the template name is related to a j1.7 setting. it is actually a bug i reported already, a fix should be available soon.
when you go to > extensions > template manager > options (icon on top right) and disable the option 'Preview Module Positions' under 'Global Configuration for Templates' then this issue should not be present anymore.

- This bug is STILL present. I spent over an hour testing and troubleshooting as a newbie. I'm running Joomla! 2.5.6 and have all Joomla! / RocketTheme / Gantry updates installed. The original post was August 13, 2011. It's now over a year later. :frown:
