    How ro prevent menu caching?

Posted 13 years 1 day ago
    • My site - http://n-pix.com - has some menu items that are only visible for registered studentes (its an online shool).

The problem is: when I enable cache for optimal performance, the menu gets cached too and isn't updated with new menu itens when registered users log in.

I tried meny cache engines and configuration, with no success.

I think the root of the problem is that the main menu isn't a module, that culd be easibly prevented from caching.

Any idea or code customization for it?

    • I have a similar issue but I little different.

I'm using a Fusion Menu with the latest version of Gantry and my menu is only visible when users have logged in (they are all set to 'registered'). The problem is that when I login the menu is missing completely however after I clear the cache in Joomla the menu appears.

I'm using Joomla 1.7.3 and all my cache's are enabled in Joomla and Gantry and JS compressions etc are also enabled.

Please can someone help with this?

      Thanks and regards.

    • I have the same problem. How to deactivate caching for the fusionmenu?

    • I have the same problem with Fusion Menu with the Voxel template. Registered users cannot see the "registered" menu items, they can only see the "public" menu items, and this is due to some kind of cache.

    • hi all,

apologies that this thread did not get any attention from our team yet.
can you all try the latest version of roknavmenu which was released on monday?
also make sure to use the latest version of joomla 2.5.
if the issues persist, please let me know and i will check with our developers. please also let me know which template everyone is using.

      thanks, kat :)

    • another thing,

if the problem keeps happening, please try ximenia template (just for a test).
in the ximenia template settings we have a setting to disable/enable the roknavmenu caching (in the menu tab).
just want to make sure that this setting would help in your case, so we can provide the correct solution for your specific templates too.

    • Joomla 2.5.6, Template: Clarion 1.2, RokNavMenu 1.13 still shows the same problem.

Also, the release notes from: http://www.rockettheme.com/extensions-updates/1537-roknavmenu-113-j25-released
      State:
"alias menu item not shown as active"
But "menu item alias" are still not shown as active (which is something I'm looking forward to as Kunena 2.0 requires an alias in order to display its menu, but that's a different story)! Looks like something went wrong here.

However, it perfectly works with "Module cache = OFF" at ximenia template.

      One more thing I've noticed:
Hitting F5 to refresh the page also refreshes the menu at clarion. But it has no effect on ximenia (i.e. the menu is not refreshed) if caching is enabled.

    • hi again,

thank you for confirming that this works fine with ximenia, i have informed our developers to add the same option to the other templates as well and maybe provide a workaround until the new releases are out.

about the roknavmenu changelog and the "alias menu item not shown as active": there was indeed a fix added to 1.13 but it has been removed again before 1.13 was released because we discovered that it was causing other issues. the devs are going to look into this again. for now i have corrected the changelogs.

Hello, as this is specific to Clarion template which is only available for our Club members, would you mind to repost this thread in Clarion forum? Once you post it please reply me here, and I will provide you the patch files immediately there :)

    • Hello

Just to add myself into list of ppl who waiting for solution.
And this issue is present for long time.
Joomla caching (with other website optimizations) is important for website loading times and Google page ranking. With Joomla cache enabled main menu items for users with elevated permissions aren't shown.
In my case its latest Joomla 2.5.6 Cristalline template and Gantry.
I can set No caching for other menu modules, but not for main menu.
IMHO best solution would be to include No caching option in Menu tab in Gantry Template settings.
