SOLVED Module positions above and below sidebar?

How do I add module positions above and below the sidebar positions?
The reason I ask is because I want to be able to display, for example, 300x250 ads above and below the sidebar-a and sidebar-b positions. This layout exists in the templates by a certain other template company (which shall remain unnamed).
I've tried my hand at this, but it is exceedingly complicated because there is no easy way to just add module positions above the sidebar in, for example, the body_mainbody.php layout template. I can't see how this can be accomplished through simple layout overrides in /templates/rt_xxxx/html/.

Just needed to add the column designation to the module position loader. In this case it was "4".
