    Upgrading Gantry. Will it change the way a site looks?

    • I normally use the gantry framework with the default template.

      If I upgrade my Gantry Framework to V 3 and also upgrade to the latest default template, will the site adopt the styling of the new default template, or will it respect the style settings that are already part of the site.

    • Hi Ian,

      A lot will depend how you styled the previous template. If you used a custom.css file or whether you just edited the css in the template. If the latter then changes will be lost.

      As with all major upgrades, I advise taking a clone with Akeeba backup, restoring to a new database and new sub-directory. This will give you a clone of your live site. Now do the upgrade on the clone. Make any required changes and then swap the two sites over.

      This method leaves the live site in place while you do all the changes you need to.
