I seriously feel like I am missing some important information.
I am using the fresco theme but have no earthly idea on what to do to get it to look like the demo. Or even get a working navigation up.
I have spent hours on this and i am really lost.

Few tips on providing proper informations so you can get proper support
1. post your questions in template related forums (you mentioned that you have Fresco template but which platform do you use)
2. check tutorial forums for a specific template. We always provide tutorials which explains how to set up extensions to have them to look and behave like demo site
3. always provide URL to your site so we can check the problem
4. don't post your questions in already solved threads or threads opened by some other member (not a case with this thread but just for the info). You will get better support that way and you also pay respect to other members - Check my services at: Mihha-Vision
