do i really have to recompile the css everytime i make a change?

the new framework is very cool i like the control and flexibility in the admin panel, but it seems that my css changes only reflect after i recompile css, this is very hindersome. is there some way to get around this, as it seems to compile once and then never looks again, which is good for less, but sucks for tweaking as I build.
perhaps there should be a developer mode where you can disable compiling until the site is live?

Whenever you make a style change in the backend and save it will recompile anyway so no need to press the recompile button. But, if you are referring to custom.scss then yes you do have to press the recompile buttons every time that you make a change. Custom and template scss is compiled together into CSS because that is what browsers understand - they do not understand scss. So, no, there is no developer mode to turn off compiling otherwise nothing would be changing.
