    • How is it possible that no separate category was started for Gantry 5?

Are you interested in feedback on Gantry 5 at this point? Or, perhaps it's better (and more polite!) not to say anything! The facts might offend...

      * It's virtually impossible to save something -- like layout section widths, or icon menu items, or the logo -- and have them not revert back at some point to the default

      * Too much saving and recompiling is needed for the simplest stuff.

I don't mean to seem negative, but that's my experience so far, with rc2 and dev builds. Anyone else have similar results? Or, is it me?

    • Thanks Hugo

I discovered that I must "reload" every Gantry page before submitting any changes. Otherwise, the browser (I've tried many) caches a stale copy, and when I update one thing, other areas revert. It's like Whack-a-Mole! Obviously very frustrating.

This seems to be occurring even after i reconfigured the web server to stop it from allowing clients to cache stuff. (Removed eTag and mod_cache settings). Hm!

But, hope springs eternal... I see a new release was made today. I've installed it and will keep poking at it. And, I'll check the developer resources. Thank you for the link, and kind reply!

    • Something I've learned after almost 8 years as a rockettheme member, is that you should never get frustrated building your website, the support here is awesome (and even better now that they are releasing a new product), if you have an issue just search forums, post it in the forum, ask in chat room, etc. You should never get stuck for more than 30 minutes trying something by yourself, we are community and help is always near ;)

    • The browser cache issues seem fixed after the friday update... yippee!

Now, the frustration is that there's no easy way to revert some content on a page to the default by un-checking the box. I believe this has been reported. Instead of grabbing a fresh copy of whatever it is from the Overview master, it just reverts back to its original setting. So, the master seems good only for striking new page copies, not effecting changes that cascade to existing pages. This results in doing the same work over and over, until you can do it without making any mistakes :-) That's a lot of fun. Can this be the intended functionality? It seems against the nature of object programming ;-) But as noted, I see it has been reported.

Anyway make no mistake... I'm liking the concepts in Gantry 5 quite a bit! It really is fun to work with, despite all the repetition required at this stage to get stuff to do what you expect. I've only used Rocket themes in a few sites, despite a dozen years or more working with CMAs, but I definitely admire not only the coders but the community. That's one of the reasons why I decided it was time to take a closer look at Rocket.

      cheers
