WYSIWYG for columns - gantry-width

    • I have a large site using Gantry 4 that has many pages with the content customized in columns using the gantry-width structure. I coded this since I am familiar with code but now my client will be taking this over. I typically use JCE for the WYSIWYG editor. Is there a different editor or some other way to make this easier for my client so that she won't accidentally lose a lot of the custom code when making edits in regular design view? JCE doesn't even show any types of breaks where new columns start except in code view so I could see mistakes happening where code gets overwriten fairly easily.

    • If the client isn't going to be using the other features of JCE for that specific code section than I would say set them up with RokPad. The Beautify function makes it so easy to read code. Of course a lot of commenting on the coding also helps ;)

Check out this coding I used RokPad to create Custom Responsive Grids for Gantry

    • I've tried to install RokPad onto two different sites that have the latest version of Joomla (3.4.8) and it won't install. So there must be an incompatibility with the latest version of Joomla or something.

Question: So there is no WYSIWYG solution when using this gantry column coding? I love the features it provides but it's frustrating that there is no design view way of using those styles. And it doesn't show appropriately in design view.

RokPad is compatible with EVERY version of Joomla from 2.5.x to 3.4.8.

Yes clients can be their own worst enemies at times. I would search on JED as there are a lot of HTML editors out there - who knows you may get lucky ;)

Have you tried posting this issue on the JCE forum as maybe they can offer a solution?
