Cannot change mainbody size on frontpage

  • Cannot change mainbody size on frontpage

Posted 8 years 10 months ago
    • Hi, I am trying to get a single article on my frontpage to span the width of the site yet everytime I try to set mainbody to (1) it keeps reverting back to the prvious setting.

It makes no difference if I change the Master or Override template settings it just reverts back. I see this problem was posted some 3-4 years back and no solution given to many frustrated people it seems as any progress been made since ?

      Template : Oculus
      Joomla : 3.5.1

    • Please do not post extensions/template specific questions in the "Gantry Framework" forum. You should post in the extension forum or template forum as appropriate. Most of these forums are for members who have a current PAID membership. Our priority is always to assist paying members.

      Thank you for your understanding.

Your subscription appears to have expired. Support does require a current subscription.

The positions number in template manager isjust a toggle so you can see the different layouts. What determines the number of positons (and therefore which layout is used) is the number of module published to those positions. So it's doesn't matter what the position number says when you enter template manager - it's only the layout that is saved.

Next, are you changing the correct template ? Some pages have an OVERRIDE template copy assigned to them?

Next, how many module do you actually have published on that page and are you changing the correct layout for that (position number).

      Regards, Mark.

    • That's ok I have PAID for membership in the past but ALWAYS had some template issues and very little else in fact i had to remove one of your most recent purchases because editing on the frontapage killed the slideshow and the fix was to reinstall everything from scratch, class. I now use alternatives since supporting you from the beginning gets me this cozy reply. I purchased this template sometime back but never got round to installing until now if that satisfies you.

BTW did you actually read the post or did you fall over yourself trying to chastise me for posting illegally.

Some old Rockettheme support, tired like old shoes. close the thread I am not interested in your bellyaching.

    • Yes I did read your post. Did you read my answer? It is irrelevant what the number of positions is set to template manager - it's just a toggle so you can see the different layouts... it is not saved.

A lot of members struggle to understand how Gantry positions work - but DanG has written this tutorial to explain it... http://www.rockettheme.com/forum/gantry-framework/189390

Of course you should also look at the Gantry documentation too which can be found at http://gantry-framework.org .

So, your mainbody should be set to 12 on the "1" toggle. Then it will take the full width of the template (not the width of the browser). Because of the structure of the html you cannot make the mainbody 100% width of the browser. You will also need to ensure that you have no other modules published to sidebar-a or sidebar-b or sidebar-c position.

The subscription that you had enabled you to get support and to download any template whilst that subscription was active. After the subscription expires you do not get support and you cannot download any further templates or updates. Sorry but our priority will always be given to members who do purchase a subscription.

      Regards, Mark.

Hi, we are aware, it's going to affect a lot of different themes as it's a Gantry frameworkissue. An update addressing this will be released as soon as we can get it out.

I guess gantry 5 has this update but does not apply to this template, if that is the case why are you still carging for a damaged product ?

    • we've fixed an awful lot of things in the last 3 and a half years.

I'm happy to help you if you post admin details to your site.

Please do a screenshot of your problem and annotate to make it clear - just to ensure I'm not misunderstanding you.

    • Please assist me with the same issue on an older template. I do remeber being able to expand the mainbody to the full width of the template but it seems updating Gantry may have put a glitch into this ability. I haven't had a need for this until now for a few pages that I am building. When I save my overirde layout for mainbody to "12/1" and then refrsh the page it returns back to the original toggle fyi (not sure if that has any bearing).

Meanwhile I will make sure there isn't a hidden module assigned to the side bar for all menu items.

    • Ha. Yes indeed I found a hidden module to make the sidebar sticky published to all items. Problem solved. Cheers!
