With Gantry 5, the complexity and difficulty of working with this framework has gone beyond what a reasonably competent web developer (me) wants to deal with. Articles, modules, positions I can handle. But now there are particles, containers, outlines, overrides which behave in a completely new way. There's a point at which the great results just take too much trial and error or searching through forums or examples to produce the results.
For example, I tried to work out where the main text for the Topaz theme ("Create a professional website") was located to see how I can add a "Read more" to another part of my site. I gave up. It's in an article somewhere but then trying to find the outline and particle that uses it and where the "Read more" is ticked, I have no idea. It seems I need to follow the whole trail from article to module to position to outline to container to particle. Maybe. I gave up.
The point is, the framework produces some great results but to deliver those results the amount of effort required to produce a one-off website is just too great. The complexity is enormous and has gone beyond what you could reasonably expect of anyone who isn't a full-time RocketTheme web developer.
