Gantry uses Font Awesome. Font Awesome has not released any new Twitter icons.

- Gantry is using Font Awesome 5 (Or v4 if you prefer) and I do not think it will be updated to use FA 6 any time in the near future.... FA 5.15.4 is still an actively supported version from the FontAwesome team so they may add it there at some point in which case Gantry would be able to utilize it.

- Actually, it's not possible. I will put on my list for next upgrade to update Font Awesome to 6th revision.

A lot of frustrations have already been written in the various RT forums about the development, new templates, etc.
Because of this I cancelled my 15+y subscription.
Ass you can read above they do not expect a gantry update to FA6 soon, again very disapointing.
Anyway, I disabled the social media particle and added a module position with a modelue where I added the SM icons with links.
You can download the FA social media icons, including the x-twitter icon. (you get .svg files which you can easily edit)
I copied them and changed the color so I also have the hoover effect

@R.Dekker, Just an FYI here for you and anyone else looking to do this.
It is actually possible to add FA6 icons to the frontend of the website. I have done it on one of my websites which is currently still using Joomla 3.10 & Gantry 5.4. I haven't even updated it yet to v5.5.
I will preface this by saying that I have Font Awesome Pro, so I'm not sure how it will work if you have the free version.
I am including a screenshot of the Font Awesome settings under the "Page Settings" tab in the backend of Gantry 5.
Simply set the version to FA5
Disable v4 compatibility
Disable Content Compatibility
Use the JS box, or the CSS Link HTML box, to enter your custom JS or CSS code for a Font Awesome 6 Kit and you're all set. -
