Have to empty the Joomla cache (clean cache) to see changes

    • HI Guys,

I've noticed this problem with the last few sites we have developed on the Gantry framework.

Whenever we are making changes within to a site I.E adding or changing modules adding plugins or plugin data to a page and even making css and code changes to see the changes we need to 'clean cache' in Joomla.

I've checked to following config options

      1. Global Config - checked that the cache is turned off
      2. Template details - checked to ensure that the Gantry cache is also turned off.
      3. Configuration file - checked to ensure that the Cache setting is
      var $caching = '0';
      4. Params.ini file in template folder - have checked to make sure the cache setting is
      cache-enabled=0

I'm really not sure why this caching issue is happening but it's starting to impact on our development times as we're constantly having to empty the cache to see any minor changes.

Any help on this matter would be greatly appreciated.

      Pete

    • Hi Kat05,

Thanks for sending this information through. It was very helpful reading through the documentation and it explained the concept of Caching.

As it turns out I have disabled the System - Cache plugin under the plugins menu and this seems to have alleviated the issue! Thanks.

So to re-cap - If you're having to empty the cache to see changes on your site it might be worthwhile turning of the 'System - Cache' in your plugins menu.

It seemed to work for me!

Thanks again guys. Love your work.

      Pete
