Moving a site to create a new test site

We have a large site with gantry installed and it works fine.
However, there are some changes that the owner wants and we need to create a new test site with the live site data on it to try some new things.
My question is: are there any configuration files that would have the original site location in them that have to be changed when moved?
(Example: configuration.php and the virtuemart.cfg.php - we have to edit those as they point to the original site)
[on an odd note: a complete system level automated backup of the site, the components/com_gantry failed to copy the "core" folder] - Joomla 3.x New to responsive design or should I say I'm lost?

Just use Akeeba Backup to create a back up and recreate it locally.

There may be some VM files that need to be edited manually, but besides that, you should be all set.
