frozen gantry admin

sorry I think I posted this in solved by mistake..
I've read the other posts on the admin freezing but mine seems to be a little different. My suspicion is it has something to do with mootools but I can't figure out how.
Here is what I'm experiencing...
When I go to my template admin (Zephyr 1.5.1) some of the dropdowns are functional but ultimately don't do anything. None of the sliders work and I can only see 3 of the presets. There is no scroll bar and the others are not available. When I click on them nothing happens- they're frozen.
How I got here...
I am upgrading a clients site from SolarSentinel template that we installed earlier this year.
I haven't had a chance to "repurpose" all the modules etc.. to the new postions.
I used Akeeba to move the existing site to a subdomain for upgrading. The first time I set zephry as the default all seemed to work I changed the preset setting and it "took". Then I went back to make some more changes and everything started freezing up. I could make changes but they no longer took effect on the site.
I noticed their was a new version of Gantry available so I thought upgrading might help and couldn't hurt so I upgraded to the lates 3.1.5. That seems to have caused the issue. Now none of the javascript on the home page e.g. RokStories (upgraded) work either.
I tried downgrading Gantry and no change.
I do not have the mootools plugin published. I've tried using different browsers and Firefox to debug but I don't really understand how firebug works....

Joomla 1.5.22
php 5.2.13
Zephyr 1.5.1
Gantry 3.1.5
Please help. I've never had issues like this before and I'm panicking..

Hi there,
Have you installed the other extensions that go with the template - such as RokNavMenu, RokModule, and latest versions of RokStories and any other modules you are using?
If you are still stuck with this one after adding the modules then PM me with a temporary super admin access and I will take a look.

Hi there,
OK - first of all I had to uninstall and reinstall Zephyr - you were on version 1.5.1 when latest is 1.5.2
I also replaced RokNavMenu from 1.15 to latest version 2.8
We now have some semblance of a template
Looks like your PHP memory setting is 16Mb - you need to have this increased to at least 32Mb, ideally 64Mb. You can do this via php.ini or ask your hosting provider to increase it for you. I suspect this is why the sliders aren't loading - out of memory.

Hi David,
Thank you so much for updating those versions. I didn't realize a point difference in the template would make that big of a difference. I did upgrade the NavMenu module but I must have uploaded the wrong version from the wrong directory and didn't double check it.
MY host doesn't allow php.ini files but I found a plugin that allows me to set the php memory limit. I can tell already the site is loading faster.- although the Rokstories is still not displaying correctly
However, something is still wrong. When I first restored the site the menus were working (In solar sentinal) before I did the gantry and zephyr installs now I'm getting internal server errors. Try clicking on any of the menu items.
Also, in the Zephyr backend the control panel is still not working. Take a look at the preset selector- only 3 options are available (non clickable) and the slider is not functional. Actually none of the Gantry sliders etc.. are working.
Maybe a file got corrupted when I did the gantry install? I thought maybe it was a permissions issue but all seem to be fine.

I'm not as concerned with RokStories right now as the Gantry admin issue.. one problem at time
I just thought if the Gantry issue gets fixed maybe it will fix the RokStories issue- if not then I'll def. start trouble shooting that one.
