Gantry on 1.6.3 install problem

    • Hi to you all,
I am a brand new rookie and just joined the club, especially because of the worldclass templates I have been drooling at for weeks now.
Also, I did a lot of reading on the Gantry concept and watched the video's. Just amazing......
Now today I installed a fresh Joomla 1.6.3 on my local(wamp) server which went just fine.
Then I downloaded the Gantry bundle 3.2.4, including the template and tried to install that, according to the instructions. It started to upload the file, but then I got a white screen and nothing.......
I installed Joomla again (fresh) and download only the Gantry Framework (wanted to do it step by step). That didn't fly either. Same result....
So, as a rookie, I am doing probably something really stupid, although the other install (Joomla 1.5.3, including Gantry) went fine, but that one is a complete package. (Maybe you should make that availabe for 1.6.3 also for freshmen like me.....)
Hope you can give me a hint what I am doing wrong.
Thanks and keep up the good work,
      /Hans

    • I don't think there will be a Rocketlauncher for Joomla 1.6.

If the bundle doesn't work then install Joomla first and then Gantry framework and the template.

If it doesn't work then you should look at your PHP settings about maximum file-sizes and allowed_ memory stuff. One more thing to check is permissions.

    • Allright! Thanks for replying. I did install Joomla first and tried to install Gantry, with a "waiting" local WAMP server until the morning (I went asleep). All I had was a white screen.
Please tell me how maximum the file-sizes and how much the allowed_memory I have to change to in PHP.INI. What are the required CMOD's ? Thanks !

    • We recommend 644 for files and 755 for folders. It is the standard for Joomla. Allowed_memory: Try at least 64M. I'm not sure about file-sizes but i don't think it's over 16M.

    • OK. Thanks. I think I am a bit further now, but I will leave it a little and concentrate on the install of Joomla 1.5 first. If necessary I'll be back later. Consider it closed. Have a good day.
