Creating rt_catalyst with Gantry?

Hi all,
I am trying to implement as much as possible of the Catalyst (May 2008) template in Gantry, and I have done some progress. But I don't know how to implement the main-shadow/main-shadow2 around the main content. Any idea on how these can be added?
Looking at the index.php, the rt_main is created with the function displayMainbody(), which I cannot modify. Any ideas?
