I am running Joomla 2.5 with the Syndicate Template and was running into troubles while implementing Google Adsense Code. I have tried several adsense extensions and used the code although in an empty module. Modules show up in the correct position (for example sidebar-c or content-top-a) but unfortunately the ads themselves doesnt show up in the assigned positions. Scrolling down the page I found out that all active ads are concentrated at thebottom-left corner of the site well out of the template.
I provide you with a link to my site:
http://www.smart-energy-magazin.de
(the relevant modules are labeled "Anzeige"), just scroll down to find the adds.
I dont have a clue how to motivate the ads to move back to the assigned module positions.
I would appreciate it very much if somebody could have a look on this issue and maybe could provide me with a helpfull hint. I am not sure if the issue has something to do with the template, but nevertheless I hope this is the right place for my question.
Hi there!
About two weaks I posted an entry to get some help regarding a problem with adsense. The ads doesnst appear on the assigned module position but they are appear concentrated at the bottom-left of my site well out of the template. I still dont have a clue how to get it fixed and would appreciate any helpfull comment.
Best regards, Prados
I haven't included Ads on any site of mine so I'm not positive here, but generally speaking, when you include an option like this there can be code that they ask you to include in the head or at the beginning of the body or at the end of the body as well as the code that would go in a module. This placement of the code could be part of the issue. If that is not required here, then it could be a missing closing tag in the code you are trying to include.
Joomla doesn't like to allow tags like "script" or "iframe" and some others because that is a great way to hack a site. Make sure your code is getting loaded the required way and that its not getting stripped out.
Can you give any more info on how this is supposed to be installed? What instructions you followed maybe?
By changing the default (and personal) editor to "no editor" java script shouldnt be changed anymore.
To figure out what might be the reason for my problem I although tried the following steps:
1. As I am running a modified template of rockettheme I tried several virgen templates of rockettheme to see if the problem remains (and yes, it did)
2. I although tried to implement the google adsense ads with an extension (phoca - Google Adsense Easy Module) but the problem remained.
I can exclude a missing closing tag as the cause of the problem as I followed a reliable "select all + copy + paste" procedure and manually checked it after you mentioned it.
As you wrote, the code must be inplemented between the body tags, thats although the information I found in the google support. Not sure if I am wrong, but by inserting the script in an empty module, it should be automatically part of the code between the two body tags, or am I wrong?
The problem remains, the new adsense modules appear in the assigned positions (content-top-a and sidebar-c) labeled "Anzeige" while the real ads stay outside the template aligned to the bottom-left of the page:

If you have more ideas or hints that might lead me to problem solving I would appreciate it very much as I dont have a clue what to do next.

For the mention of code between the body tags, yes, anything in a module or article will be between the body tags. Some of these features, like Facebook stuff, requires additional code added to the head of the page and I wasn't sure if adsense had this or not.
Have you tried this with a default Joomla template?
Hi Ben,
I installed today a local brand new joomla system with the Syndicate Template of Rockettheme and - surprise - a new module filled with the adsense script worked without any problems. Conclusion so far: My proceeding is correct and the gantry framework + template aren“t responsible for the problem. Unfortunately I dont have a clue how to identify the reason for my problem.
I can say that I was getting javascript errors loading your page and they were from a Facebook extension. You could try disabling those extensions one by one, clearing cache and reloading after each one.
Also, the ads looked to have a set width of over 700px so they wouldn't fit in a column as they are now at the bottom of the page.
You could maybe try putting them in a different module position so they have the full width of the template and see if they load then.
Hi Ben!
Thx for trying to help me, neither disabling my facebook extension nor reconfiguring the size of the ads did solve my problem. Therefore I decided to give it up and solve the problem with a broader set relaunch, obviously now it works
Thx for your time and efforts, please regard my topic now as closed.
