SOLVED Joomla 3.2/Gantry 4 admin not functional

  • SOLVED Joomla 3.2/Gantry 4 admin not functional

    • Hello, everyone!

I've installed the latest releases of Joomla and Gantry -- J!3.2 and Gantry 4 -- and I'm having severe trouble making any custom changes. In short, I can't make any.

      Examples:

Through the Gantry admin panel ...
      • I've tried to move the responsive menu to a different module position. The change is reflected on the admin panel, but not on the front-end.
      • I've tried arbitrary changes in the admin panel, like hiding the logo or changing the link color, to no avail.

      Through FTP:
      • I've tried to customize the template with a template-custom.less file.
      • I've tried to customize the template with a gantry-custom.css file.
      >> In both cases, nothing happened. I've tried uploading blank versions of both files, I've tried deleting the files on the server. Zilch. My site looks exactly the same.

      • I've tried clearing the cache through both the Gantry admin, my browser cache and the Joomla maintenance panel. Nothing.

      • I've tried changing the permissions for every file in the gantry directory to 755. No effect.

I've somehow installed an invulnerable instance of Gantry. Nothing can change it!

Is there an underlying problem with Gantry and J!3.2? I've worked with Gantry, LESS and RocketThemes before -- a lot! -- and I've never, ever had this kind of trouble.

I've simply got to be missing something obvious. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

      Any advice

    • Actually there is an underlying problem with Joomla 3.2 only. Joomla 3.2 is something that was released without proper testing and with lots of stuff deprecated without proper notice in advance. Lots of things is broken now and even core joomla devs are well aware of this situation.

We advise everyone NOT to use Joomla 3.2 until those issues are solved

    • Any way to downgrade a site from 3.2 to 3.1 without breaking things?

That question should really be asked in the official Joomla forum and not here. I would say that you can extract the whole J3.1 installation package in the root of your site overwriting all files

Please post your questions next time in new thread. There are multiple reasons for that so let me list just few of them:

      1. whenever you post in some other member thread, member who opened that thread receives notification in his inbox about that also. In case your issue or resolution is not the same as OP, that just spams his inbox with unnecessary emails
      2. since we have multiple mods working on the forum, it is easier for other mods to spot your issue if you post in in a separate thread. If you post in already used thread, only mod that participates in that thread will see your question
      3. it is easier for other members to find a solution in case they try to find something if solutions are spread in separate threads

    • Go to System>clear cache. Select gantry. Delete. Updates visible in front end.

    • Hello there

The solution proposed above did not work in my case. I've cleared cache (Site and Administrator) but no luck so far.

      Any hint?

      Thanks

    • Hi all,
I am advising that neither J3.2.2 has solved the problems of RokSprocket admin issue  . I had to go back to J3.1.5 and now everything is working fine.
      Greetings
