SOLVED Can't Edit Template Due to Failed Joomla Update

- Problem solved. Since Joomla automatically goes out to check for updates, I added an entry in /etc/hosts to point update.joomla.org to one of the IP addresses on my local network. That way, it tricks Joomla into thinking that it went to the update server. No more fsockopen() errors.
