First, let me start by saying I am not sure of the best location in forum for this question.
After updating several Joomla websites, I have noticed some template features (e.g. RocSprocket) no longer functioning properly. I now believe this occurs after updating both Gantry framework and Joomla 3.4.0
Questions:
1. Should Joomla be updated first, before updating to the most current version of Gantry? Is order of updating critical to success?
2. Would any issues occur when RokSproket is updated before Gantry Framework?
3. Are most current versions of Gantry and RokSprocket fully compatible with Joomla 3.4.0?
4. Are updates occuring to plugins in preparation for near future Gantry 5 release causing issues?
I have a number of additional Joomla websites that I am holding off updating due to issues occuring on several websites that I have already updated.
You didn't say what you're updating from? do you mean from J2.5?
If you want to upgrade from Joomla 2.5 to Joomla 3.x these are the steps to follow:
1. backup backup backup!
2. make sure that you meet the system requirements for J3.x (min php 5.3.10).
3. check that al RT products are on latest versions (gantry, rt extensions and template) update any that aren't and clear server cache and browser cache. Check that RT template you are using is compatible with Joomla 3.x

. You can check all current version numbers in extension manager > manage. Please note if you are using "mission control" admin template that you need to uninstall this by following these special instructions

.
4. check all your third-party extensions are up to date and that they are compatible with J3.x
5. test test test! to make sure anything you updated does still work ok
6. backup backup backup!
7. disable "system - remember me" plugin in extension manager > plugins
8. update to J3.x and clear server and browser cache again.
9. test test test!
10. backup backup backup!
11. re-enable "system - remember me" plugin.

Our "secure" area of the forum is just that - no one but RT staff and yourself can see content and no bots can harvest any content therein.
Let deal with them one at a time
1. The first is because you are getting cross-origin script blocking because you haven't configure your non-www and www correctly. You will find that if you use non-www you site doesn't work - but if you use www then it does. Check your domain set-up and it's also a good idea to rewrite non-www to www anyway (or vice-versa).

1. I was never sure if it was better for SEO setting sites to
domain.com
or
www.domain.com
For a while I tried both ways to determine if search engine results differed. From now on, I will always use http://www for consistency.
2. I always have been hesistant to update template itself, since I sometimes replace images in the template folder. Usually, just Gantry and plugin updates have been sufficient.
1. it doesn't really matter which one you pick - but you want one or the other and therefore should redirect one of them to the other one. This is so all you metrics will be compiled under the same domain and you don't get cross origin script blocking.
2. You should never change any of our original template files. This includes any of the images too and they WILL be overwritten by template updates. If you want to change an image then you should either be doing that in the template settings (we often add the ability to change the image to "custom" and upload your own image e.g. logo, backgrounds, etc) or you should use a custom CSS statement to override the template settings. It is in your interests to always ensure that you arte using the latest versions of all of our products since we often release new versions to address known bugs. The changelog will always tell you what we have changged. You may also find it advantageous to subscribe to our RSS feed on the products updates page so that you are aware when we issue a new release.
