    SOLVED Gantry 5 Permission Issues

Posted 9 years 10 months ago
    • Hi there,

I tried to make changes to the layout and got the following error:

      Forbidden

You don't have permission to access /gantry5/administrator/index.php on this server.

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

ALL my directory permissions are writtable.

      Any ideas? Cheers

Are you sure you have the Ownership rights for that folder?

    • I have encountered the same issue when trying to edit copyright information in the default layout:
Server Details (Linux/Windows, Hosting service, etc)Linux
      PHP version5.5.25
      Platform (name and version)Joomla! 3.4.1 Stable [ Ember ] 21-March-2015 20:30 GMT
      Template/Extension (name and version)Callisto V1.1.1 With Gantry V5.0.0-rc.3
      Link to the Issue melbourneielts.net/administrator/index.p...82f6fd896fb39bd5d6=1

Have checked the permission on the /administrator/index.php file and is set to 0644 so should be OK.

      Any ideas?

    • Hi costas and David

Just to make sure for ownership or permission issues check:
      • Check your folder permissions here:Admin -> Site or System -> System Information -> Directory Permissions to ensure they're writeable - which is all GREEN (except configuration.php which should be RED)
      • Check folders have 0755 permissions and that files are 0644 and that Owner/Group are correct (you can use an FTP client or FPA mentioned below).
      • Specifically check the ../cache and the ../templates/rt_templateName/css-compiled folders.
      • check Admin -> Site or System -> System Information -> System Information Tab->
Web Server to PHP interface: apache2handler -or- CGI / FastCGI ? Joomla prefers CGI / FastCGI

Then place the fpa-en.php link in the SECURE tab of your reply.

    • This seems to be a problem with the mod_security module for Apache. Unfortunately we can't do much about it.
I suggest you to contact the hosting provider and ask them to have a look at the errors log. Most likeley they need to whitelist the /administrator/index.php to allow the Ajax to go through.
