SOLVED Gantry 5.. How to put module in menu dropdown?

Posted 9 years 10 months ago
    • On the Gantry 5 learning curve... Couldn't find this answer in documentation or forum..

Can anyone help me add a module to my main menu.. but not at the top root level of the menu... as a sub-menu item....

Hope that makes sense. I can see how to easily add a module to the root level of the menu... but I want to have a root level item called "Login" and then when the user mouses over that, the module would appear as a menu dropdown item.

      Thanks for any guidance!

    • Ok this isn't obvious so I will be raising an issue on github regarding this. Here's how to do it.

      1. Ensure that the menu item you wish to dropdown the module from has a normal menu item below it already in joomla's menu manager
      2. in Gantry 5 menu manager click on the parent menu item and this will then show a second row containing the child item from sterp 1 above.
      3. now you can drag a "module" onto that child item and this will give you a module at the same level as the other child item.
      4. now you can go back to joomla menu manager and delete the temporary child item that you create (probably better to just disable it).

      Regards, Mark.

    • I can now confirm that the latest CI build of gantry 5 include the necessary functionality to add module to a prent menu item now - you just click on the parent menu item and it will open the child row.
