SOLVED Downgraded from Gantry 5 to 4 and modules won't show on FP

Hi. I installed Gantry 5 and the Ethereal Template. Although I really like it, my client wanted something more "busy" looking and selected an older template. I then installed Gantry 4 but didn't uninstall 5 as I wanted to play around with it.
Every now and then I recieve an error message and the modules on the homepage won't display. The error message is
Warning
COM_GANTRY5_PARTICLE_NOT_INITIALIZED
I've been trying to see what sets this message off but can't find the problem.

it sounds like you have a Gantry 5 module particle in module manager and have it assigned to a position that exists in your Gantry 4 template. If you are not going to use Gantry 5 (and whatever Gantry 5 template you were using) then I would uninstall them. After that make sure that the menu that you are using is correctly assigned as default and remove the menu(s) created by the Gantry 5 template installation.
